Glen View Hip Hop

Glen View has claimed its spot as a power house in Zimbabwe’s Hip Hop culture. Quite a number of names from Glen View have been dominating the scene. Some have gone mainstream, while some have remained underground but still making noise, both in the secular and Gospel field. We are all Hip Hop!

Here you will find them all, familiar names and faces, not new to the game. With cats like the former Jostlers 52 crew which consisted of Nib Crouch, MC Ef-em and G.I.L (now gospel) still local, LToxic and Sturtes now based in South Africa still representing. Femcee K Mac is Queen with a lot of respect. You wouldn’t want to pick on her because shes a girl.
3View, another rap duo worth mentioning is made up of brothers Pgee and Nargee going hard at it. These guys customise there own beats and they good at it too.

Some are old school, some are new school and some get caught in the middle but are best at what they do. J.Kush, mad freestyler has not recorded anything and everyone wonders why. Its sad to hear such a dope verse only once. NTM Tha Hommie has brought to us the H.Y.C trend with his Shona raps. He has always brought it down in our vernacular language. Skryptt also has been holding it down. Trap-C and Dub GM do what they know how. Gospel crews involved in it preaching God’s word are known as Jesus Freaks and Young Playaz League. YPL was made up of Young Pound and Simba Java. Whistle is another Gospel rapper. These are just a few to mention.

I guess I speak for all of these talents when I say Gees Records has played the bigger part. This is where you find most, If not all of Glen View Hip Hop’s bangers. In the mix now is Huniland and 3nican Entertainment still producing Glen View hits.

We also love to dance and our B.Boys have ate much of the cake. Christyles, Flip Floppers are names you might have come across as they have awards and titles to their names. Ice Cold cannot be forgotten. The have definately put us on the map as Zimbabwe. Christyls represented even in Korea.

Not only do we boast the best players in the game, we have been active in the Hip Hop circles hosting big events in Glen View’s streets. The response has been major considering a Dancehall dorminated industry. Glen View is known for its Hip Hoping.

G.I.L’s Calling

Everyone has his or her time to respond to the call. We all need change at one point. Still slick on the mic Gil Slick was his name. We all know God is Love and thats his name. And he is Calling with his 6 track E.P, telling us to Live Wise Die Ready.

This project was baked at Gees Records on Holy Ghost Fire, produced by the man G.I.L himself. Its all about God’s word. The Preacher with a beat in the background features another Glen View Gospel Hip Hop rapper Izzy and R&B singer Lester on Victorious. Since before the release Hes been Calling on every show saying Tsvaga Mwari. The audience loves his call. Truth in it. At Tora Guta he took Glen View, at The Swicth he turned the Light on. He calls it the triple B’s, Bible Based Business. Word thats not Cheap.

You might know him as the guy on Ill Cee’s Viva Christo Viva.

Hes Only A Son!

Philip Tinashe Banda but well known by the street as DOPE_BOY JNR born and raised in GLEN VIEW. This guy started doing music at the age of 14, High School. Some may now know him as Kdouble.

“My first recording session was in 2011 December when I featured on HBA’s (Now known as Quazor)* song Do It For The Hood with Shingi Leesh (MHD)* and Kingbit (from Magen’a crew)* .”

After that successful track kept on,head strong and kept myself in the studio and recorded a couple of tracks which feature artist from Glen View such as Nib Crouch, Leo Vybs (Dancehall)* and Trap C. With All My passion I had for Music and Success I found myself turning to Gospel which I believe was God’s intention. I went on and created and led the crew JesusFreaks ( Himself, Slick and Young Trap)*. We worked on a Mixtape “Rebirth” ..”

In my opinion it was the best Mixtape to come out of Zim Christian Rap, but however its all about who you know and where you coming from.
Personally I’m not saying CHH is not making step . So to all those who been with me since day one ,family instead of calling you fans. I’m back at doing what suits me for now whch is secular rhymes ….. So I’m working on a Solo Mixtape which will drop prolly next year (2015) .Title and Dates will be announced as time goes on but expect clean and good music from Your Boy.
Currently I’m studying Local Governance Studies at Midlands State University and I have Hopes and Dreams of making my College and momma proud.
